SHALES, Donald "Keith" - July 10, 1923 - May 3, 2013 It is with sadness that the family announces the death of Keith Shales of Perth Road, Ontario. He passed away peacefully in Kingston General Hospital. Keith led a long and fulfilling life. He was born the second son of Walter and Hazel Shales. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy in WW II and survived a U-Boat attack on The H.M.C.S. Magog. After the war, Keith joined the London Life Insurance company where he became a very successful salesman. In 1963, he was promoted to Director of Marketing, a post he kept until his retirement in 1981. He was blessed with many happy years of retirement living at Red Gate Farm with his beloved wife Marie. Keith was Marie's rock and she devoted herself to making sure they had a wonderful life together. Keith served the Kingston community by heading the Board at Hotel Dieu Hospital as well as countless other charitable events and campaigns. Keith's parents and brother Edwin pre-deceased him. Keith is survived by his son Michael Shales, wife Beth and daughter Laura; his daughter Mary Elizabeth (Patty) Boles, husband John and sons Brent, Scott and Mark and his stepson John Shales, wife Cindy, son Steven and daughter Lisa. A very special thank you goes to Dr. Smith and all the wonderful staff at M.S.S.U. at Kingston General Hospital for their kindness and excellent care.
